A woman changes. She is no longer the sweet Butterfly who waits to be saved.
The black dress stands for her past. Orange fur marks her rebirth, as she becomes a stronger, wilder version of herself.
The look takes its inspiration from Japanese yōkai, where beauty can hide something dangerous.
SOFT FUR, STRONG STRUCTURE
The dress is made from stiff black mesh, which holds its shape and supports the soft orange faux fur.
The fur runs down the front and along the sleeves, while the black mesh keeps the dress close to the body.
Two very different fabrics, brought together in one design.
THE BEAUTY OF THE MONSTER
Inspired by the fierce tiger and the long-haired women of Japanese ghost stories, this design explores a change in character. The dark dress holds on to the past, while the orange fur breaks away from it. Butterfly is no longer the victim. She has become Monsterfly.
