What to Expect at a Private Fitting

If this is your first time booking a private bridal fitting, you may not know what to expect. That is completely normal.

At SUU Bespoke, most enquiries begin on WhatsApp. You can send me photos of your dress, the areas you are worried about, and the date you need it for. This helps me understand the garment before we meet, and I can let you know if it is something I may be able to help with.

For your first fitting, please bring the dress, the shoes you plan to wear, and the right underwear or bra if you already have them. These small details matter, especially for bridal and eveningwear, because they can change the length, support and overall fit of the dress.

During the fitting, I like to start by listening.

I want to understand what you feel is not right about the dress, what worries you, and what you would like to change. Sometimes the dress does not fit properly. Sometimes you already have a clear idea in your head and want the dress restyled to match that vision.

I do not only look at whether the dress is too big or too small. I look at how it sits on your body, where it pulls, where it feels loose, where it feels uncomfortable, and what needs to change.

A good alteration should not only fix the problem. It can also change the whole silhouette and the feeling of the dress.

After the first fitting, I will explain the work needed, the estimated cost, and the time frame. You can also check my Price & Service page for a guide before booking.

Most bridal alterations usually need around 6–8 weeks, depending on the dress and the work involved. If you need the work completed sooner, I may be able to offer a rush service depending on my schedule, but this will include an additional rush fee.

Some dresses only need one fitting and collection. More complex bridal alterations or restyling may need a second fitting, so we can check the balance, comfort and final shape before everything is finished.

My aim is to keep the process clear and calm. You should know what is happening to your dress, why it needs to be done, and how it will help the dress feel better on you.

Private bridal fitting and eveningwear alteration appointments are available in Kingston upon Thames.
